I’ve talked about credit reports before, but this time, you should pay attention. Here’s a personal story. I had perfect credit. I was in a car accident. I had full coverage car insurance and I had student health insurance from my university. Each one paid out in full (much to my surprise and happiness). So, what’s the problem, you ask?
I still had over $15,000 in medical bills that was owed after all of my insurance paid out. I would have never known this if it wasn’t for getting a
free credit report. You see, I graduated and moved not too long after the accident and what few bills that the hospital sent, were sent there. Creditors were calling me using an automated system that I looked up online. The information I found told me it was for telemarketers. What happened to a real person calling and dealing with you? If I had not gotten the free credit report, my credit would be in horrible condition from non-payment of these medical bills.
My point is, make use of a credit report, specifically a free credit report. It can make a world of difference for you. It did for me, as I had to have a credit check for my new condo.
