Are credit reports really freeMonday Feb 15, 2010
Many people often ask if credit reports are free and the answer is yes. However, this question is a little more complex the more you delve into it.
Each individual is entitled to one (1) free credit report each year at www.annualcreditreport.com, which is sponsored by Equifax, Experian and Transunion.
For individuals looking to check their credit report more than once a year, than there is a fee associated with such a request. The fees range from $7 a month up to $30, depending on the provider that you go with.
So, if you do not need your credit report more than once a year than your best bet is to go to www.annualcreditreport.com. But, if you do need to check it monthly check out all of the different providers to see which one offers the best terms and pricing.
