Missing College

Thursday Jan 21, 2010

I miss the days when you were in college and you didn’t have a care in the world. I had my student loans and my parents gave me my “allowance”. Loans are a great way to help you in a bind. However, I’m having one heck of a time paying off my student loans. I don’t know if all loans work the same way, but I had to start paying off my student loans 6 months after I graduated from college. And, knowing that I’m obviously not going to be able to pay it all off right away, I’m getting charged interest and a pretty high interest rate at that.

I don’t know if I just didn’t do enough research or if it is that the interest rate has gone up since I first graduated, but there has to be a better option. If you are looking to take out student loans, make sure you do your research. Look around and make sure you find the best option for you.
1. You want to make sure you don’t have to start paying the loans off right away. You’ll need some time to get a job after you graduate and not have the stress of paying off your debt.

2. You want to find a plan that doesn’t charge you high interest rate or gives you a certain time period that you don’t have to pay any interest at all.

3. Check and see what you’ll have to pay each month before you move forward with the loan. You don’t want to be swamped with your bills, living costs AND this on top of everything else.

4. One you have to start paying on your loans, make sure you pay them on time. And, you should probably pay a little more than what you have to. Just to help you clear that debt away faster.

Loans can be very beneficial and so many people opt for them. Just make sure you do your research before choosing a student loan.
