Research credit cards before signing up for a cash rewards, point rewards or low APR credit cards.Tuesday Apr 27, 2010
There’s all sorts of credit cards out there. For argument’s sake, we’re going to say that you understand the importance of learning about credit and how to use credit responsibly. OK, now there are student credit cards, cash reward credit cards, points rewards credit cards, airline rewards, gas rewards etc. The point I’m driving at here is that there is a credit card out there that can fit what you want and your personality.
If you rarely carry cash and use your card often, you may want to get a cash rewards credit card or a points rewards credit card. These cards will keep track of how often you use your card based on how much you spend and award a series of points that you can redeem. You can get cash back or you can get different items from the points rewards card. These items can range from wine to luggage to books, etc.
If you own a car and drive often, you may want to consider a gas rewards card. This will reward you with either a gift card or a gas card once you reach a certain level of points. Speaking of traveling rewards, airline rewards are very popular. If you feel like a roaming gnome and want to visit many different places the world over, you should definitely get this card. As often as you use the card, the more ‘miles’ you receive on your account. As you accumulate miles, you can get tickets to wherever you want to go.
Now with all of these programs, there are rules and stipulations you need to read up on first. Never apply for a credit card without reading the agreement, knowing the APR, and knowing that you will have to pay back any credit you build up. But, if you’re responsible with your credit card, which ever type you get, you can reap the rewards!
